May 21, 2007 By Karen Larde Atlanta, USA – At a time where the art scene in Atlanta is stronger than ever and the city has seen substantial growth in multicultural diversity, Bollywood comes to Buckhead in rare fashion show form. To mark the occasion, the beautiful Indian actress, Amrita Rao, made the trip from Mumbai as a special guest. She participated in the show wearing a beautiful gown and jewels created by Prriya & Chintan. Taking its name from Hollywood, Bollywood, spelled with the letter B, comes from Bombay, also called Mumbai, a popular city in India known for its active film industry. Sima Rama and Rita Patel, owners of *Prriya and Chintans Couture & Jewelry and the design talent behind the label, showcased several culturally inspired garments and accessories at an exclusive show held last Friday night at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Buckhead. The designing duo joined forces in 2003 after experiencing much international success with their unique design aesthetic and draped silhouettes. Much of their collection consists of beautifully crafted diamond jewelry and embroidered ready to wear apparel. Good Day Atlanta’s Suchita Vadlamani, who once called Mumbai in India home, was the hostess for the evening. Suchita commented on the talents of the designers while wearing pieces from their one-of-a-kind collection in various striking colors. The exclusive pieces showed draping and layering of garments at its best, reminiscent of both Greek and Mesopotamian cultures centuries ago. On the runway, gorgeous ethnic models wore designs of rich colors and embellishments of precious stones. From long flowing creations to an A-line swaggering appeal, the designers’ fusion of Indian culture and modern chic succeeded at satisfying even the healthiest fashion appetite. *Prriya and Chintans Couture and Jewelry is located at 3145 Peachtree Road href="http://www.thefashioninsider.com/fitv.php?act=read&rub=atlantanow&id=7&status=&splitindex=2000">in Atlan...
